In times of high youth unemployment, it was important to bring together young people from around Europe to learn and share experiences related to ethnicity and work life.

The aim of this project was to provide young people with the necessary tools to tackle the competitive labour market.

The project catered for young people from ethnic minority backgrounds between the ages of 16-25 years. They had interactive workshops on CV writing and interview skills and lots of team building activities. 

The programme was held from 2th-11th August 2021.

The COVID-19 pandemic and the associated social and economic downturn are undermining children's educational and development outcomes in Ghana. This is having a disproportionate effect on vulnerable groups, particularly in disadvantaged communities such as Nima in Maamobi, where Achievers Ghana, an NGO (Non Governmental Organisation) looks after girls to enable them to continue with their education. These risks will be exacerbated especially in overcrowded communities such as Nima.  
 
Bridging families rose to the challenge and donated hand sanitizers and masks to children and young people of Achievers Ghana.

Amma Frimpong from The University of Essex has been selected as a finalist in the Mary Seacole Award for Outstanding Contribution to Diversity and Inclusion for the 2020 Student Nursing Times Awards, to be held at Grosvenor House, London on 24 April 2020. The awards have had a recording breaking year with more than 500 talented student nurses, education providers, and mentors entering.  Finalists will now present to members of the 90-strong panel of esteemed educational professionals.

The Student Nursing Times Awards celebrates the very best in nurse education, recognises and rewards brilliant educational establishments and honours those who are committed to developing new nursing talent as mentors, lecturers and providers of placements. The awards also pay tribute to students who have demonstrated the academic achievement, clinical prowess and personal qualities that will make them brilliant nurses.

Shining Stars Reading Club was launched in Lila Childcare Foundation in Awoshie in September 2019. Children wrote their names on stars to remind that that where ever they find themselves they have to keep shining. Over 150 children in the school now have access to story books.

We had a reading challenge with the girls where girls sat in groups to share a book with  volunteers from University of Ghana, Legon. The girls had to write down new words they came across while reading and find the meaning to them. They also had to predict what would come next in the story and pretend to be some of the characters in the story.
